Making a difference in other people’s life.

What is It? Personal Development or Personal Growth

When you are born you have every single attribute, all untouched and in perfect condition, that would, allow you, untouched, make a success in any field of endeavor you wanted to be in and abundant in all aspects of life, such as relationships, health and well being and time and money freedom. By the time you reach 20, only doing what they think is best, your parents and grandparents, teachers and friends have molded you.

In your schooling, your tertiary education and in the business and corporate world there is no training on how to be the best possible version of you, you could possibly be. You are on your own.

Why is it you can have two similar businesses in close proximity to each other and regardless of the economic climate, one always does well and the other struggles. It is a choice.

Personal development and growth is a personal choice. People are different from one and other, and what works for one may not work for another. It is the ongoing process of understanding and developing oneself in order to achieve one’s fullest potential.

Successful personal growth requires motivation, the desire to improve and the willingness to make changes. An open mind and the desire to learn and grow are important. You will be required to step out of your comfort zone. This is part of your growth. YOU MUST BE GENUINE IN YOUR DESIRE TO GROW.

Different things trigger the desire to grow and make changes in your life. Sometimes it is problems and difficulties. Sometimes it is inspiration from a movie, book or seminar.

Personal growth is not a motivational seminar once every 12 months. It can be an adjunct but it is the ongoing education which provides you with the incentive and means to become the best version of yourself.

Personal growth is a wonderful experience.  It has a profound effect on all aspects of your life. Growth encourages a more passionate life and there is a stronger sense of excitement in every thing you do. There is a better awareness of new possibilities and opportunities around you. Your personal growth benefits those around you in both your family and community as well as your workplace.

There are many activities and processes that can form personal growth/development programs. Everybody is different. Programs work if you work them. Programs can involve coaching and reading or techniques such as meditation, creative visualization, repeating affirmations and learning to develop a positive mindset.

The most powerful question you can ask yourself.  Am I living the life I want?

There are many books, articles, workshops and coaches teaching personal growth. If this is something of interest you will find all the information you need by searching the internet.

  1. I like how you open this article.
We are molded from the time we are children by many outside factors.
Some may have our best intentions in mind, like our parents possibly, but we are shaped into an individual that might not be our true self.
I was listening to a self help podcast one time and heard something that shifted my thinking.
She was speaking about this molding process and said a major step for us to achieve personal growth was to begin stripping away this “molding” like an onion.
To find our true ourselves, and live a fuller life as who we really are.

  2. Very interesting. Especially the part about molding children. As a female child born in the early 1950’s. They tried to mold me from the day they discovered I was not a boy. My own dear uneducated and uninformed mother actually said to me when I was kid. “you don’t need an education your just going to grow up and have babies anyway”. That was just the beginning of having to fight to get a decent job, a decent education and rejection at every turn. Good thing I’m a rebel and still fighting. Never wanted babies or had any. At school they treated the girls different than the boys and I called them on it all the time. Needless to say I was never very popular at least with the teachers.
