Most people are past masters at self sabotage. We have been so well programmed with habits or paradigms we cope with everything the same way each time something happens. This prevents personal growth and achievement. Fear is no exception. We have to learn to be continually aware of self-improvement and growth. This allows us to be prepared to cope with fear and the situations created around it.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said “Do the thing we fear, and death of fear is certain.”
Henry Ford said “One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn’t do.”
What I will cover is:
- What is Fear.
- Our Comfort Zone.
- Fear’s Disguise.
- Befriend Fear.
- Out Think Fear.
- Hold the Truth – Be successful.
What is Fear?
Fear takes the shape of an emotion induced by a “perceived” danger or threat. This can cause behavioral changes, such as fleeing, hiding, or freezing from “perceived” traumatic events. Fear occurs in response to a certain stimulus occurring in the present, or in anticipation or expectation of a future threat “perceived” as a risk to oneself. The fear response arises from the “perception” of danger leading to confrontation with or escape from/avoiding the threat.
Fear is a perceived environment created by our own interpretation. Everything is what it is. Most people miss the truth. Fear allows them to acknowledge situations that are false.
As a result we all have fears, worries and doubts. The world we live in makes It impossible not to. Fear is the boundary of the reality we currently know. It is the edge of our comfort zone. If fear is the boundary of the reality we know, then our goals/growth is a life that is beyond that boundary.
Our Comfort Zone.
Fear is the edge of our comfort zone and only by facing our fears can we move past them to achieve our goals/growth and create the life we would love to live. Fear is like a weed that can choke the life out of a growing plant. The growing plant is our own growth, but like a weed, fear never fully goes away. It is normal to encounter fear. The most successful people in the world have all been afraid. People who are never afraid are always staying in their comfort zone and their goals/growth never come to fruition.
Fear can quite often come in disguise. Fear will say things like:
“I am going to make sure you do not lose your money again.”
“I am going to make sure you never get your heart broken again.”
“I am going to make sure nobody takes advantage of you again.”
Many times I am sure we have heard the definition of fear – “False Evidence Appearing Real.” If we always approach fear on the same basis we will miss the opportunity to recognize the false evidence. Fear’s disguise will not allow a genuine defense if we continue to combat it the same way every time. Ignorance – lack of growth – does not allow the learning. Knowledge – learning – minimizes fear.
It is impossible not to have some fear in life. It is important to acknowledge your fear and learn how to befriend it instead of asking it to go away. Our doubts are traitors. Most doubts are false They cause us to miss out.
Most people listen to their fear as a sign to stop. They listen to its reasoning. Combating fear is an ongoing process aligned with your own growth. What we need to know is that the source of our strength to overcome any fear cannot be taken away by that fear. There is a higher power that provides the strength. The Universe or Spirit. The Universe is always with us. The key is that it has to work through us. We are the ones who have to make a shift in our own awareness and perception to connect with this higher power
When you are working with the Universe you have the confidence to prevent fear from driving your thoughts, feelings and actions. You learn how to befriend fear. Once you acknowledge your fear, you can move past it by focusing on your goals/growth.
We do not always succeed with our first attempt in anything. Some times we have to try several times. Other times we may have to shift our course in order to follow the direction of our goals. No matter, every time we try again or change direction we will come up against fear. People who are successful, are successful in the presence of their fear.
Out Think Fear.
The most important step is to allow your thoughts to flourish by creating an environment necessary for your goals to unfold without fear of distraction. Unfortunately once we set our goals or even dream a great dream and affirm that we deserve what we desire, worry can become part of our reality. If we experience a mistake or failure, fear is intensified.
Focus on your thoughts. What we give our attention to, the Universe hears, as our intention. Our attention is what influences our thoughts. This determines the vibration we are in. That vibration is how the Universe determines what to bring our way to overcome our fears. Through our vibration, the Universe gives us exactly what is in harmony with that vibration.
Our feelings are our conscious awareness of the vibration we are in. These vibrations are created by the thoughts that we think. If we keep our thoughts on all the many obstacles in our path to our goals, we create within us a vibration of fear.
Mistakes and failures are part of life. Embrace them as they are an indication you are taking action and moving closer to your goals. When we shift our attention away from this fear and onto our goals the vibration we create is one of growth, expansion and possibility. Learning to manage the energy that we give to fear allows us to redirect that same energy towards achieving our goals. Feed your faith and starve your fear by keeping your attention fixed on your goals. Always pay attention to the truth.
Hold the Truth – Be Successful.
If you notice your attention is turned toward a fear, doubt or worry, then consciously return your attention to the truth that you are something that is way bigger than any circumstance or situation that might stop you. As long as you keep your attention on truth, the truth will set you free. Practice this more and more and invest more of your energy into life giving thinking rather than fearful or life diminishing thinking.
Many people diagnosed with life threatening diseases chose to deny the power the prognosis had over their lives. They chose to direct their attention to their goals and dreams. They starved their fear and feed their faith and were successful.
